ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An underground fire on Sunday in downtown Madison affected about 7,600 MGE customers after an underground cable failure caused outages—crews repaired cables on West Washington Avenue and restored power to all but 23 customers by 6:36 p.m.—with service for the remaining customers returning overnight.  WISC-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Madison Police confirmed that 22-year-old Jamell D. Grant-Amos was arrested in Atlanta on Aug. 7 for an attempted homicide linked to a drive-by shooting on Milwaukee Street—where a man was injured and is expected to survive.  WKOW

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Madison Black Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 10th Annual Madison Black Restaurant Week through Aug. 17 — the event features over 30 Black-owned restaurants, caterers, and food trucks offering African American, African, and Caribbean flavors in Madison. Foodies can vote for their favorite experience during the week.  WMTV
