- ➤ Prospective homebuyers attended a free workshop on Saturday at The Atrium at the Village on Park that explained budgeting, credit improvement and mortgage applications provided by the City of Madison’s Community Development Division and local groups. Financial educator Robert Horne said the program (Opening the Door to Homeownership) aims to help low and moderate income residents qualify for homeownership. WKOW

- ➤ UW-Madison’s Bascom Hill was covered with pink flamingos on Friday as a fundraiser raised a record $737,849 — each flamingo symbolized a donation. The event set a new record for University fundraising and drew strong local support. Wisconsin State Journal
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ More than 300 Dane County residents logged over 9,300 bike, bus, walk and carpool trips in September as part of the RoundTrip Greater Madison challenge — an effort that removed the equivalent of four gas-powered cars from the road and saved $12,000 in fuel and repair costs. - ➤ Never Give Up the Fight is a charity event hosted by Justice for a Cure at Bartels Co & Tap in Monona that will run from October 17th through 19th and include silent auctions, pool tournaments, and local business support.
