COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Williamson Street will close between S Livingston and S Ingersoll this weekend for the Willy Street Fair, while S Paterson Street and S Brearly Street will also close between Williamson and the Capital City Trail. The street closures will run from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday and 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Sunday—along with a parade closing nearby streets from 11:00 a.m. to noon. City of Madison
- ➤ Bergstrom Automotive will host its 'Drive for a Cure' fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 26 in Madison where community members can test drive vehicles from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — each mile driven will donate $1 to breast cancer research while guests enjoy free food, a commemorative t-shirt, and a raffle with prizes. - ➤ Cadence Lee, a 17-year-old reported missing from the Village of Oregon, was found safe and returned to her parents on Wednesday morning—Oregon Police thanked the Wauwatosa Police Department and the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation for their support. WKOW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The YMCA of Dane County awarded over $268K in camp scholarships to help 66 kids from 35 families attend summer camp and partnered with 10 local organizations to identify families in need—efforts that supported working parents by providing essential child care. WKOW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A longtime Dane County detox center may close at the end of the year if a new agreement is not reached—county officials and law enforcement say its loss will stretch hospitals and public safety. County leaders plan to start a less costly monitoring program in 2026 if no new provider is found. WMTV
- ➤ Starting Monday, September 22nd, the Capital City Trail Sewer Replacement Project will close the bike path from S Blount Street to S Brearly Street—residents will find signs and message boards and must use a detour on E Main Street for bicyclists and pedestrians during the project. - ➤ The Madison Common Council fell one vote short of extending Dairy Drive’s housing contract during a meeting that lasted into Wednesday morning—roughly 100 residents in temporary homes must leave by Sept. 26 as the site is scheduled to close on Sept. 30. WISC-TV
- ➤ Madison Police Department welcomed Spirit into its Mounted Patrol Unit on Tuesday evening at Vel Phillips Memorial High School—he became the sixth horse to join the team after receiving his official badge. The 6-year-old Percheron Gelding, known for his playful personality, was sponsored by cheer coach Laura Harrington and will support crowd control and community outreach efforts. WMTV

- ➤ Madison welcomes this year's first Yappy Hour at Hilldale where dog owners and their pets dress in team colors for a tail-gate—enjoying activities like a pup crawl, fetch, and caricatures.
