  • The annual Greek Fest offered Greek food, music and dancing in Madison as a major fundraiser for the local Pan Orthodox parish. Attendees enjoyed gyros, sweets and pastries during the first week of September—bringing the community together to celebrate tradition.  WKOW
  • Middleton High School graduate Natalie Hinahara is painting a new mural at Bauman Community Pool that shows local birds, insects, fish and plants to highlight the Pheasant Branch area—students joined her for the first few days and she hopes the artwork will inspire young artists before the pool opens next season.  WMTV

CRIME NEWS

  • UW-Madison police arrested 25 UW students for underage drinking during the 42-10 win over Middle Tennessee State on Saturday; first aid crews responded to 20 calls while 35 people were ejected from the stadium.  WISC-TV

  • Madison Public Library and UW Madison’s African Studies Program are hosting the first African Story Hour of the fall today from 4 to 5 p.m. at Pinney Library—children will listen to the book Africa is Not A Country, craft a related project, and sample food from various African cultures.  WMTV

  • The IRONMAN race returned to downtown Madison this past weekend as athletes completed a 70.3 course with swimming, biking + running and organizers worked hard with volunteers to deliver a successful event that featured a shuttle for Verona viewing.  WMTV
  • Today, fans from Madison boarded a bus to Green Bay for a tailgate at Lambeau Field ahead of the Packers season opener. Nash Darragh from News 3 Now joined the Madison Packer Backers—a tradition spanning decades—to capture the festive scene.  WISC-TV
  • Local athlete Carly Schrom won first place in the women's division at IRONMAN Madison after overcoming health challenges and finishing intense months of training—while Chilean veteran Carlos Echeverria, who traveled over 5,000 miles, achieved a personal best.
