CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Joshua Dean, 32 — a Chicago man recently released on extended supervision after six years in prison — appeared in court Monday on charges of first-degree intentional homicide for fatally shooting 30-year-old Lee Scott III outside a northside apartment on July 22 at about 3:40 a.m., and the court set a $1M cash bail with further restrictions imposed on him. - ➤ Monona police said that after a retail theft complaint on Saturday, a vehicle chase across highways led to injuries when an officer tore his hamstring during a foot chase and a 34-year-old Madison suspect was hurt after jumping from a deflated car—charges are pending. WISC-TV

- ➤ USDA Food and Nutrition Service today announced updated income eligibility guidelines for free and reduced-price school meals — households of four earning $41,795 or less qualify for free meals while those earning between $41,795.01 and $59,478 qualify for reduced-price meals — with the new rules in effect through June 30, 2026. - ➤ APDA Wisconsin Chapter will host its annual Optimism Walk on September 6 at Warner Park Shelter in Madison to support people with Parkinson's disease and their care partners.
