  • A new café in Monona called JavaAbilities opened in July and now serves coffee and treats while offering jobs and training for people with differing abilities. Owners Mary Kay Clark and Tim McDonald plan to add a drive-thru and mobile ordering to support steady growth — half of the 20 employees have a disability.  WMTV

CRIME NEWS

  • Four armed men robbed a business on Madison's East Side Wednesday night and held two people at gunpoint—both victims were hospitalized.  Wisconsin State Journal

  • Mochi on State Street received its second shipment of Labubus, unique collectible creatures created by artist Kasing Lung that are selling out fast with genuine versions costing about $50 while fakes sell for about $20 to $25. Collectors are advised to check the matte-finish box and QR code marking on real Labubus—features that have driven strong demand for these trendy items.  Wisconsin State Journal

  • Madison’s Sexual Violence Resource Center will host Chimera self-defense classes for college students at UW-Madison this August and later in the school year—lead instructor Natalie DeMaioribus said the program gives students a flexible toolbox of techniques to handle different situations.  WISC-TV
