ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A structure fire late Thursday night on County Road H in the Town of Arena sent three people to Madison hospitals—emergency teams from Arena and nearby towns responded and cleared the scene by about 3:30 a.m.—with no further details released.  WKOW

CRIME NEWS

  • A Madison woman, Jamie Anderson, 34, allegedly hallucinated that her father was the devil and walked 16 miles on July 1 from her apartment to his Stoughton home where she tried to stab him with a bright orange knife—officers arrested her after her father sustained cuts that required staples and arm surgery.  WISC-TV
  • A 23-year-old Madison man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a 2022 shooting that injured two teens outside McDonald’s on Dryden Drive—he pleaded guilty to two felony counts of armed robbery and will serve five years of extended supervision.  WISC-TV
  • Madison woman Tiambra Walker pleaded guilty to a hit-and-run that killed a man, Stephen Fleck, and his dog on Schroeder Road in 2023, and Judge Diane Schlipper sentenced her to eight years in prison — five years of extended supervision while dismissing charges of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and felony bail jumping.  WMTV
  • On July 24, Monona Police were called to a residential complex on East Gate Road after a stray .380 round pierced an apartment wall and lodged behind a bed frame. Police later traced the bullet to a neighboring unit where multiple firearms were found — the 35-year-old tenant will appear in Dane County Court on Aug. 14 for a misdemeanor weapons charge.  WMTV
  • Tiambra Walker, 23, pleaded guilty in court on Friday for a deadly hit-and-run on Schroeder Road that killed Stephen Fleck and his dog on February 15 and had evaded arrest for 14 months before being caught, and she was sentenced to eight years in prison + five years of extended supervision with restrictions on contact, driving, and substance use.  WKOW

HEALTH NEWS

  • Carl Schulze, who has used a wheelchair for almost 20 years, rode about 10 miles a day from Neenah to downtown Madison for two weeks to urge lawmakers to improve home healthcare access. He completed a 127-mile journey with a rally on Friday morning at the Capitol—highlighting low wages for care workers and recent Medicaid cuts.  FOX 47
  • Tellurian Behavioral Health will open a new facility called Jake’s Place at 702 West Main Street in Madison in late fall – named in honor of Darryll E. Jacobson, it will help people with behavioral health and addiction issues and provide street outreach and case management services.  WMTV
