- ➤ Madison police arrested three men early Tuesday at a McDonald's on East Washington Ave after a robbery during which a victim said suspects attacked with brass knuckles—one man was charged with armed robbery, felony bail jumping, and drug paraphernalia while the other two face charges including armed robbery and drug offenses. - ➤ A guest staying in a Madison rental home discovered two hidden cameras on July 20 and alerted police, who photographed the devices wired into the outlet system with memory cards inserted—officers are investigating to identify who installed them. WMTV
- ➤ Police are investigating a woman they say is responsible for the deaths of several dogs at her in-home pet care business on Gilbert Road in Madison—she was arrested on July 18, officers found 14 dogs in her home with several dead in totes, and she is set to appear in court on Sept. 18. WKOW
- ➤ Rodney Golden is accused of fatally stabbing Myron Dunlap outside Monkeyshines Bar and Grill in early May—he pleaded not guilty and will stand trial for first-degree intentional homicide. WKOW

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ State regulators reported that the commercial harvest of lake whitefish in Lake Michigan has dropped from a peak of 1.7 million pounds to less than 200,000 pounds—its lowest level since 1990 (a nearly 90 percent decline)—and some fisheries biologists warned the species might largely disappear in parts of the lake due to invasive mussels. State, federal, and tribal agencies will meet this week while the DNR updates population estimates to set harvest levels for next season. Wisconsin Public Radio

Tony Evers announced a new Child Care Bridge Payment Program that will give $110 million monthly directly to child care providers through June, ensuring no funding gap after the Child Care Counts Program ended.
