- ➤ The Dane County Fair is celebrating 175 years at the Alliant Energy Center with live music, free tractor rides, carnival rides and fair food from July 17th to 20th. Today, fair-goers can enjoy Kids Day with free activities as gates are open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.—other special events continue on upcoming days. WMTV
- ➤ A six-year-old from Cottage Grove caught a 42-inch northern pike at Lake Waubesa’s pier over the weekend while fishing with his family. He almost lost his footing when the fish tugged his lure and a relative stepped in to help secure the catch — an event captured on video. WKOW

- ➤ A serious three-vehicle crash occurred in Lafayette County on Wednesday around 4:11 p.m. when a 30-year-old from Dubuque failed to stop at a sign and hit vehicles driven by a 61-year-old from Shullsburg and a 19-year-old from Dekalb — one child was ejected from the Hyundai and both children were airlifted to hospitals in Madison — with all vehicles towed from the scene. - ➤ Madison’s secondhand scene is getting a boost with the launch of the Secondhand Summer Passport—a free program that guides shoppers through 15 vintage stores curated by local business owners Sami Head and Elissa Blaeser. The passport offers rewards when participants visit 10 shops and enters them into a grand prize drawing if they complete all stops, and it runs through September 1. WMTV

- ➤ Madison police said a group of women attacked a woman as she left the bathroom at a downtown Raising Cane's on June 8 at 12:10 a.m. because she took too long, and a bystander who intervened was injured—officers said the group may face charges of substantial battery, battery and disorderly conduct. - ➤ Wisconsin will soon launch a revived film incentive program with a reestablished state Film Office and offer up to $5 million in tax credits to support TV and movie projects. Local filmmaker Nathan Deming said the program will help productions by ensuring credits are spent on Wisconsin crew + vendors. Wisconsin Public Radio
- ➤ The Elections Commission said it will work with Madison officials on an order to change ballot procedures so that the 193 absentee ballots lost in the Nov. 5 election are not missed again. City staff must submit their changes by Aug. 7 and the order will be discussed at a public meeting on Aug. 15 (the report also criticized the former city clerk for her lack of urgency). - ➤ Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Bradley has not begun raising funds for a second term in 2026, which has raised doubts about her running again. Meanwhile, liberal candidate Appeals Court Judge Chris Taylor has already raised over $583,000—fueling a competitive race ahead. Wisconsin Public Radio
