- ➤ Paul Van Duyne, 43, of Madison was bound over for trial on charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide and stalking after he allegedly used chemicals including cyanide to poison women he once dated—Andrea Whitaker faces extra charges in Rock County and a hearing is set for today. - ➤ Paul Van Duyne Jr.—accused of attempted first-degree intentional homicide and stalking in Dane and Rock Counties—was bound over for trial after his preliminary hearing was waived, with his alleged accomplice Andrea Whitaker scheduled for arraignment on Aug. 5. WMTV

- ➤ The City of Madison Streets and Urban Forestry Division warns residents that using liquid weed killers near trees may cause damage such as discolored or cupping leaves and that severely harmed trees could be removed with fines applied to the responsible party (if recovery is not possible). Residents are advised to pull weeds by hand or use granular chemicals on windy days to protect the trees. City of Madison

- ➤ Madison has approved a tax-funded deal for 25 acres at Voit Farms where over 1,000 new housing units are planned—20% of which will be affordable—with the city set to pay $4.1 million in future taxes for four lots as part of the agreement with developer Starkweather LLC. The project must break ground by May and comes as housing demand grows in the city. The Capital Times
- ➤ The City of Madison Engineering Division announced that its Pleasant View Road Project won the APWA, Wisconsin Chapter’s Project of the Year award. The project rebuilt 1.4 miles of a key north-south road and added new turn lanes and a multi-use path — improvements designed to make travel safer and easier for drivers, bikers and pedestrians in Madison and Middleton. - ➤ Andrea Weisman and Mike Crowley, two Wisconsin residents, donated kidneys to strangers in 2024 after intensive testing and surgery, helping address the need of over 1,200 people waiting for transplants.
