CRIME NEWS

  • A 67-year-old man from Edgerton was arrested by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office on July 12 after a hit-and-run crash near 11117 N Goede Road in the Town of Fulton that injured a deputy—he was intoxicated and resisted arrest, and he faces Operating While Intoxicated and Felony Resting/Obstructing charges causing substantial bodily injury—this is his fourth OWI.  WMTV

  • Fête de Marquette lit up Madison’s east side with French culture, live music, and a marketplace of local vendors during a festival at McPike Park—hosted by the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center.   • Dane County Parks hosted the free Environmental Fun Fair yesterday at Lussier Family Heritage Center where families enjoyed recycled mask making with TetraPAKMAN, live music by Cedric Bae'tche, and helped with a mural by Sonya Sankaran — a project of collaboration with Dane Arts. County Executive Melissa Agard said the event showed how artists, educators and residents can connect with nature and science.  WKOW

  • A national study found that weak gun laws in Wisconsin were linked to a 15% increase in child firearm deaths, with African American children most affected. Local leaders in Madison, including State Sen. LaTonya Johnson and Rep. Shelia Stubbs, are urging lawmakers to pass the Safe Summer package to reinstate waiting periods, implement red flag laws, and ban ghost guns—hoping to curb gun violence before more tragedies occur.  The Madison Times
