- ➤ A body was found in Lake Mendota Sunday morning when the Madison Fire Department responded at 6:13 a.m.- UW-Madison Police now lead the investigation to identify the victim. WISC-TV
- ➤ Madison police are investigating after a rollover crash on Sunday (8:30 p.m.) led a suspect to flee into Lake Monona and refuse to exit the water as Lake Rescue responded. WMTV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday, hundreds of Tibetans gathered at Deer Park Buddhist Center in Oregon to celebrate The Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday. The event, hosted by the Wisconsin Tibetan Association, began at 9 a.m. with a prayer session inside the temple — followed by speeches, traditional song and dance, and a community potluck lunch. WMTV

- ➤ A Marquette poll shows that voters support strong special education funding and extend postpartum Medicaid coverage while preferring lower property taxes, and opinions on UW funding remain mixed. Legislators delayed Friday’s Joint Finance Committee vote and will meet Tuesday to resolve leftover budget issues including public schools, health care, and UW funding (current spending carries over since the budget missed the July 1 deadline).
