  • The Madison Coalition will host its first Queer Liberation March on June 28 to mark the anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising—marchers will gather at James Madison Park, then stop at the City-County building before moving to the Capitol at 11:45 a.m. to demand queer liberation for all.  WISC-TV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Woodman's east was evacuated Monday night when part of its roof collapsed—firefighters responded at 8:42 p.m. on the 3800 block of Milwaukee Street, and no injuries were reported.  WISC-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • A 36-year-old man from Madison was arrested in Verona after a police chase ended when he hit a tree near exit 76 on U.S. Highway 18/151 Friday night — officers said he was on active parole, found with marijuana and money, and now faces charges for drug possession, fleeing, and resisting arrest.  FOX 47
  • Madison police are searching for Jamell D. Grant-Amos (22) wanted for attempted homicide after a man was shot on June 11 in the 4400 block of Milwaukee Street around 2:30 p.m. and taken to hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.  WKOW
  • Monona Police arrested a man after he led a multi-city car chase that ended in a pond near Monona on Saturday—he was found with several grams of cocaine and now faces charges for second-degree recklessly endangering safety and felony attempted eluding while on bail for a prior misdemeanor.  WISC-TV
  • Madison Police are seeking Jamell Grant-Amos, a 22-year-old man suspected of attempted homicide in a drive-by shooting on June 11 in a store parking lot on the 4400 block of Milwaukee Street—multiple shell casings and two guns were found and a 22-year-old victim was injured but not in life-threatening condition.  WMTV
  • Madison Police Department is asking the public for help to find suspect Jamell D. Grant-Amos after a drive-by shooting on the 4400 block of Milwaukee Street on June 11 & a 22-year-old man sustained non-life-threatening injuries.  WISC-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Federal funding delays force work to halt at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on a wildfire detection tool that uses AI to scan satellite images and quickly detect fires. The project will stop at the end of this month and may affect 10 to 15 jobs as officials seek alternate funding (NOAA contracts are under review).  Wisconsin Public Radio
