Good morning, Madison. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 20th of June.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A new affordable housing development broke ground on Madison's south side on Juneteenth to support young adults aging out of foster care and households earning at most 60% of Dane County's median income; local developer Julian Walters, a Madison native who experienced foster care, leads the 44-unit Park Lofts project with partners Lutheran Social Services and JustDane. Dr. Alex Gee announced that the Center for Black Excellence and Culture reached a $31 million funding goal and will open its 37,000 square-foot building debt-free later this year—this new space on West Badger Road in Madison’s south side will include performance areas, a youth meeting room, and a women's center.  FOX 47

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Tuesday in downtown Madison, a crash between a semi truck and a transit bus at University Ave & Lake Street led to a minor hazardous materials incident after 20 quarts of oil and coolant leaked and two bus passengers received minor injuries while fire crews and a private spill team cleaned up the scene, with the Department of Natural Resources being notified.  WISC-TV
