  • A Madison developer will break ground tomorrow at 2 p.m. on a housing project for youth transitioning out of foster care or homelessness at 1150 South Park Street. The project will offer affordable units and onsite help—such as counseling and job training—to support residents.  WISC-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Madison police arrested a woman early Monday after she cut a man in the face at Peace Park; the incident occurred in the 400 block of State Street (around 1 a.m.) and the man was treated by EMS without needing hospital care.  WISC-TV
  • Madison police arrested a man Monday night on Maple Grove Road after he was seen throwing bottles in a southwest Madison grocery store—he resisted arrest and was taken to jail on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.  WMTV

  • Direct visitor spending in Dane County hit a record $1.55 billion in 2024 when 9.2 million tourists visited+ the spending boosted the local economy by $2.65 billion+ nearly 20,000 hospitality jobs were supported, including 500 new roles.  FOX 47

  • The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction will change the scoring on state report cards by adjusting how schools and districts are rated for academic achievement on standardized tests + attendance and graduation rates.   • Voters in Dane County picked Colin Barushok as the new member of the County Board on Tuesday to fill the vacant District 1 seat covering downtown—unofficial results showed about 52% for Barushok versus 48% for Adrian Lampron after former supervisor Elizabeth Doyle stepped down due to her move.  WKOW
