- ➤ The American Red Cross will hold its 25th annual Madison Beach Days Blood Drive on July 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel in Madison, where donors are needed to help collect nearly 13,000 blood and 2,600 platelet donations daily and may receive incentives plus enter a raffle. - ➤ Gov. Tony Evers proclaimed June 16th as Kwik Trip Day statewide to mark the chain's 60th anniversary and honor its role in the community. Founded in Eau Claire in 1965, Kwik Trip has grown to nearly 900 locations with over 38,000 employees—its new DeForest distribution center will open later this year. WMTV
- ➤ Culver’s gave away free chicken sandwiches on June 16th to the first 100 guests at each location—offering a choice of crispy, spicy crispy, and grilled sandwiches—and celebrated the debut of a new lineup served with pickle slices, mayo, lettuce and tomato. WMTV
- ➤ Gov. Tony Evers proclaimed June 16 as 'Kwik Trip Day' statewide to mark the 60th anniversary of the family-owned chain founded in Eau Claire in 1965 and now headquartered in La Crosse. Kwik Trip celebrated the milestone on social media and will open a new distribution center in DeForest later this year — a step that highlights its continued growth. WISC-TV

Tammy Baldwin was notified by law enforcement that her name was found on a list of about 70 names recovered from the vehicle of the suspect accused of fatally shooting Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses—she condemned the political violence while focusing on the victims and their families. - ➤ A man accused of killing his sister and her husband in the June 16th, 2020 murders remains at large as the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office continues to search for him — authorities describe him as a 66 year old man who is 6 feet tall and 200 pounds and may have changed his appearance. WMTV

- ➤ Sit Still Kids Madison opened on the west side as a salon that creates a fun-filled experience for everyone — a new spot designed to bring creativity to the local community. WISC-TV
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Leslie Schroeder is working to build a flax-to-linen textile industry in Madison—she helped launch Midwest Linen Revival and will host the Field to Frock event from June 20-22 to show local farmers and artisans how to process flax sustainably. She is testing flax varieties on nearby farms and has received support from the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Emerging Crops Accelerator and the Wisconsin Farmers Union, although a large processing facility is still needed for scale.
