- ➤ The Madison Museum of Contemporary Arts will host its 67th annual Art Fair on the Square on July 12 and 13, expecting 200,000 visitors and 450 artists downtown. - ➤ Madison Metropolitan School District is offering several summer programs aimed at preventing skill regression by hosting free literacy and math sessions at Bayview—East Madison Community Centers. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Dane County confirmed John Schlueter as the new human services director and Mark Papko as the Dane County Regional Airport Director on June 12 — Schlueter will lead a department serving over 800 employees with a $313 million budget, and Papko will manage an airport that handled over 2.3 million passengers last year while addressing issues like noise mitigation and PFAS cleanup. Both appointments end a long search for permanent leaders in their agencies. Isthmus
- ➤ Sergeant Shuntia Lucas made history as the first Black woman to serve as a sergeant at the Dane County Sheriff's Office, having broken barriers as the first Black female booking deputy and patrol officer since she began in 2018. - ➤ The City of Madison is accepting applications for school crossing guards for the 2025-26 school year, with positions requiring 10 to 15 hours a week + a starting pay of $20.86 per hour and including training and equipment.
