- ➤ Dane County hosted its annual Survivor Celebration Sunday at the Madison Mallards ballpark to honor local cardiac arrest survivors and bystanders, including musician Rökker who recovered after a heart attack at a local bar. - ➤ A Madison man charged in a school shooting involving his daughter appeared in Dane County Circuit Court on May 12 at 1:40 p.m. facing charges from the December 2024 incident at Abundant Life Christian School that killed a teacher and a student—and his bond conditions include GPS monitoring and restrictions against contact with the school. - ➤ Authorities investigated a series of outdoor fires on the 2800 block of Dryden Drive after Engine 10 extinguished a fence fire at 9:02 p.m. Saturday—multiple ignition points point to intentional fires, and both the Fire Department and Police continue the investigation. WKOW
- ➤ Jeffrey Rupnow, father of the shooter at Abundant Life Christian School who killed two and injured six, will have his preliminary hearing on July 24 and is charged with selling a dangerous weapon to a minor and contributing to child delinquency — online records show he was released on bond with restrictions. - ➤ Madison East culinary teacher Emily Sonnemann received a $6,000 grant for her work running the school food pantry at Madison East High School in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, which provides free food to students & staff. The school also received a matching $6,000 grant to support learning and school programs. WMTV
- ➤ Madison high schools saw record numbers of Advanced Placement exams this May when 2,062 students completed 4,561 tests at East, La Follette, Vel Phillips Memorial and West high schools — the most ever recorded in the district. Assistant superintendent Cindy Green said the results show strong student ambition and support from educators, and AP scores can help reduce college costs by earning credits. FOX 47

- ➤ UnityPoint Health-Meriter began offering weekly walk-in clinics for drug and alcohol treatment on Monday, June 9 at 1015 Gammon Lane—these clinics run Monday from 12:30-3 p.m. and Tuesday from 8-11 a.m. The hospital also offers evening Intensive Outpatient sessions from 4-6:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday in addition to existing morning sessions, providing immediate care and support for those in need.
