- ➤ Union Sportsmen's Alliance will host 'Take Kids Fishing Day' events in Madison and Beloit this weekend to let children fish and learn about conservation — the Madison event will take place at Vilas Park on Saturday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and the Beloit event will be held at Riverside Park on Sunday during the same hours, with the first 100-150 registered youths receiving a free fishing rod and reel. - ➤ Madison School and Community Recreation will launch 'MSCR on the Move' on June 16 at Brittingham Park from 5 to 7 p.m.—the event offers children and families free art, play activities and a screening of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 at 6:45 p.m. Local groups, including the Madison Reading Project and the Public Library, will help bring the mobile program that served over 5,100 people last year to more neighborhoods. - ➤ A 69-year-old man was arrested Monday in Stoughton for allegedly driving while intoxicated and was found with a loaded handgun in his pants pocket—his alcohol level was nearly double the legal limit and he was booked into Dane County Jail. FOX 47
- ➤ Madison police are investigating a possible stabbing incident on State Street after a 23-year-old woman was hospitalized on Monday following a large fight between 1 and 2 a.m.—no other downtown fights have been reported—and they urge anyone with details to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers. - ➤ The True North Music and Food Festival will take place on Sept. 27 at the Duck Pond in Madison—featuring music by Pokey LaFarge, the People Brothers Band and others, along with 12 food tents from local restaurants. Ticket sales begin Friday, June 6th at 10 a.m.—with $2 from each ticket benefiting DAIS and the Dane County Food Collective. WISC-TV

- ➤ Affordable housing is the key issue in the special election for the District 1 Dane County Board seat on June 17, where candidates Adrian Lampron (a law office manager active in Madison campaigns) and Colin Barushok (a legislative assistant with strong local ties) are competing. Lampron wants to expand the county's affordable housing fund while Barushok proposes higher investment in tenant legal aid to help stabilize the housing market. WISC-TV
- ➤ A Wisconsin mother who lost her daughter to suicide testified before lawmakers urging a change that lets either older teens or their parents consent to mental health treatment, saying she was left powerless when her daughter waited hours in the ER. Lawmakers have proposed over a dozen bills to expand youth mental health access — including better insurance coverage and school support—to address rising concerns about the current system.
