- ➤ Over Memorial Day weekend, thousands of volunteers worked at Brat Fest by setting up tents, grilling brats, and donating more than 16,000 hours to nearly 130 nonprofits. Every hour worked added a $12 donation to charities—helping groups like Second Harvest and the Salvation Army continue their work. WMTV
- ➤ Deerfield veteran Gregory Storms—member of the cemetery committee—helped maintain a local veterans’ cemetery after concerns were raised about worn flags and missing markers. WMTV
- ➤ VFW Post 7591 in Madison unveiled a new tribute wall at a Saturday ceremony to honor charter member Galen Day Sr. and his sons Galen Day Jr. and Donald Day, who died in World War I. The wall displays original military medals from the 1940s and the VFW will donate leftover funds to the UW-Madison MIA Recovery and Identification program. WKOW

- ➤ Brat Fest ended its 42nd year in Madison and celebrated 10 years of its zero-waste program by using compostable cups, utensils, and clear waste stations—about 50% of the waste is now compostable and reused on farms and golf courses. WMTV

- ➤ MadTown BMX, a nonprofit that raced on donated land in DeForest for 13 years, moved to Angell Park in Sun Prairie after its property was sold. The group canceled its 2025 season and is reviewing bids for a new track that it hopes to open by May 1, 2026. WMTV
- ➤ Runners from across the state gathered at the UW-Madison Library Mall on Sunday morning for the Run Madtown half marathon and 10K, starting at 7 a.m. They ran past the State Capitol, the Arboretum, and Camp Randall—over 3,000 athletes took part as race director Beth Salinger said the event brought the community together.
