ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A crash on I-39 southbound near Femrite Drive closed the right lane at 7:50 a.m. on May 21st — all lanes reopened about an hour later, according to the Dane County Sheriff's Office.  WKOW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • This week, Wisconsin dairy farms will begin having their milk tested for the avian flu virus under a USDA-mandated national surveillance program—samples will be taken during regular milk quality checks with little impact to daily operations. The state agency said that with over 1,250 tests weekly and pasteurization ensuring safety, the process meets federal guidelines while keeping producers on track.  Wisconsin Public Radio
  • Melissa Agard—a Dane County Executive—urged Madison residents to become foster parents as licensed homes fell from 168 to about 110 over the past year, leaving nearly 190 children in need. Nearly 190 children—many of them teens or sibling groups—will receive care as Human Services offers support through background checks, training, and home assessments.  WKOW

  • Nurses from SEIU delayed their meeting with Meriter as they said a strike is now unavoidable, per a statement from UnityPoint. Meriter said negotiations will resume May 29 and the hospital and clinics will remain open during the planned strike — company officials expressed disappointment with the union's decision.  WMTV

  • The Madison Mallards will enforce a clear bag policy at Warner Park this summer — bags smaller than 6.5 by 4.5 inches may be nonclear while larger bags must be clear and will be searched — with the season opening on Memorial Day at 4:05 p.m.  WKOW
