- ➤ Preorders for Take Your Brat to Work Day and the world’s largest Brat Fest are due Tuesday, May 20—this step helps ensure your brats and hot dogs are ready to skip the line. The event will run from 6-9 a.m. on May 23 on Willow Island at the Alliant Energy Center, and WMTV 15 News is hosting while calling for volunteers to help with setup and grilling. WMTV
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A chemical explosion injured one person on Monday at a laboratory on Madison’s west side when a worker handling red phosphorus caused a reaction at 510 Charmany Drive—firefighters arrived at 3:54 p.m. and confirmed no further injuries were reported. WKOW
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Madison police investigated Tuesday after a food delivery man was shot in the foot on the 200 block of South Park Street at about 3:40 a.m. — his injuries were not life threatening and no arrests had been made — and he later received treatment at a local hospital. WISC-TV
- ➤ Madison police arrested a 52-year-old woman Monday night in a parking lot on the southwest side after she stabbed a person—she faces charges of second-degree reckless endangering safety, disorderly conduct and resisting. WISC-TV
- ➤ Monona police arrested a 25-year-old woman early Monday after she led a chase that began when she fled a Fitchburg stop and sped over 90 mph on the Beltline — her run ended at an apartment complex where K9 Jakko bit her leg — and officers later found a small amount of cocaine and drug paraphernalia in her vehicle. - ➤ The Madison Police Department issued a Silver Alert for Donald Gene Schaefer, a 67-year-old man with vascular dementia who was last seen Monday evening on the 200 block of Garnet Lane—he left home without his medications, belongings, or money and is believed to be traveling on foot. WISC-TV

- ➤ The Sun Prairie Education Foundation is launching Food for Thought to give middle and high school students free healthy snacks—aiming to help students focus in class by easing hunger. - ➤ Madison Gas and Electric and the City of Madison installed five new pole-mounted electric vehicle chargers on existing utility poles in neighborhoods with multifamily housing missing charging options — raising the total number of chargers to nearly 60 and adding curbside charging at key spots.
