- ➤ A mural — titled 'Colorful Characters' — now sits south of downtown on the corner of the new parking structure at Village on Park adjacent to the Urban League's Black Business Hub. Artist Michael Ford created the piece to honor Madison leaders Wayne Strong, Lori Mann Carey, Earsie Green, Ilda Thomas, and Alfonso Studesville who made lasting impacts on local community service. - ➤ On Friday afternoon just before 2 p.m., a crash on I-94 near mile marker 240 left one person dead and two others injured, with emergency crews from Dane County and Madison responding to the scene. WMTV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Madison prosecutors charged Jeffrey Rupnow with felonies for allowing his 15-year-old daughter access to firearms she used in the December school shooting at Abundant Life school that killed a teacher and a student and injured six others before she died by suicide—he was arrested on May 8 and was set to appear in court on May 9. - ➤ Madison Police Department reported an adult on foot was allegedly robbed and sexually assaulted by an unknown suspect on Saturday morning while heading to work at the 1100 block of W. Badger Road on the city's south side—no arrests have been made. WISC-TV
- ➤ Public Health Madison and Dane County asked for information Friday on a brown pit bull-type dog that bit a person on the south side when the off-leash dog jumped on the victim in a park, and anyone with details is urged to call (608)255-2345. WISC-TV

- ➤ Madison public libraries celebrated 150 years by hosting birthday parties, exhibits and hands-on displays this past Saturday as branches shared personal stories and showcased their evolving role in the community — the milestone reflects deep local ties while additional events are set for May 31. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Wisconsin-Madison hosted its Spring Commencement on Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium—more than 8,000 students earned degrees including 6,982 bachelor's, 1,511 master's, 913 PhDs and 18 education specialist degrees.
