CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Bill Yoblonski, a Sauk County father, said he only wants his son James home after he went missing almost two years ago when he was last seen on June 12 driving the family vehicle and abandoning it near Highway 12 in Baraboo (police say they are still reviewing evidence), and he expressed deep frustration with the way the case has been handled. - ➤ Thomas Kozlovsky, a first-generation law student at UW–Madison, will earn his law degree on Friday—honoring his immigrant parents' sacrifices and setting a new course for his family. He began his path after exploring other careers and chose law for its promise of a better future. WISC-TV

- ➤ The 22nd class of UW Madison’s Odyssey Project graduated Wednesday afternoon in Great Hall at UW-Memorial Union. The 30 students overcame challenges such as addiction, incarceration, homelessness and foot insecurity to earn six credits in the free program — which has graduated over 600 students since 2003. WMTV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Brainplate Grows, a community composting program, works at Troy Farm to help restaurants divert food scraps from Madison’s landfill. The program built a greenhouse in 2023, turned 48,000 pounds of waste into compost in 2024, and will host pop-up events at Vera Court Neighborhood Center and Reynolds Community Garden later this year—boosting local sustainability efforts. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ North Randall Avenue between Campus Drive and West Dayton Street will close starting Monday as the city works with the university to replace chilled water underground utilities—this project is expected to last until late August and a pedestrian walk route will be available during the work zone. - ➤ Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District will start a sewer project on May 12 that will close road ramps near west UW campus, the VA Hospital and University Hospital. The project will use several phases—such as a one-day ramp closure on May 17—and continue through September, so commuters should plan extra travel time. WKOW
