CRIME NEWS
- ➤ An inmate at Dane County Jail was found unresponsive at 5:57 a.m. Tuesday morning and pronounced dead after prompt efforts by the Madison Fire Department and in-house staff—the investigation is being led by the Madison Police Department and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office. WISC-TV
- ➤ Fitchburg Police say a man was critically injured from a stabbing outside Monkeyshines Bar & Grill around 1 a.m. Tuesday and was taken to a nearby hospital—investigators say the people involved knew each other. WKOW
- ➤ Fitchburg police responded to a stabbing at Monkeyshines Bar and Grill parking lot early Tuesday morning and the victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries—investigators believe the involved parties knew each other before the incident. WISC-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Greater Madison Metropolitan Planning Organization is asking Dane County residents to complete an active transportation survey that will guide safer biking, walking, and mobility improvements in Madison, Fitchburg, and Middleton. Responses are due by July 1 so planners can decide which projects to prioritize. WISC-TV
- ➤ Starting Monday, May 12, the westbound Campus Drive off-ramp to Highland Avenue will close as part of MMSD’s sewer pipe replacement project. The right travel lane will close as well, reducing westbound Campus Drive to one lane until late June — and the on-ramp will have a one-day closure on Saturday, May 17 to bury a sewer bypass pipe. - ➤ City officials announced that the Campus Drive off-ramp at Highland Avenue will close starting Monday May 12th for sewer pipe replacement work—reducing the available lane to one near the ramp. The project continues through June and the off-ramp will reopen June 29th while the westbound turning lane from Highland Avenue closes Saturday May 17th. WMTV

The event highlighted that 1 in 10 Wisconsin babies was born preterm (averaging 113 babies each week) and featured local mother Nicole Abendroth sharing her experience with premature triplets. WKOW
