  • On April 19, hundreds of demonstrators gathered at James Madison Park to donate food for residents in need and help local farmers cope with federal tariffs. They marched from Capitol Square, shopped at the Dane County Farmers’ Market, and collected nearly 2,000 pounds of food—actions that showed a new way to support the community.  Isthmus
  • On Saturday, colorful suits and beautiful hats filled the Edgewater Hotel as guests enjoyed live New Orleans-style jazz music and refreshments by lake Mendota while raising funds for UW Health patients and families—proceeds from raffles and games will support UW Health programming.  WMTV
  • Access to Independence held its second Adaptive Gaming Expo in Middleton Saturday, offering free access to adaptive gaming devices and a chance to win prizes for the disability community. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Iowa County officials reported that a second fatal crash occurred on Friday at 12:45 p.m. when a semi-truck struck a pickup truck at the intersection of U.S. Highway 18/151 and County Trunk Highway K, killing 70-year-old driver David Glessing, and they plan a public meeting on Tuesday, May 6 at 10:00 a.m. to discuss changes after five traffic fatalities this year.  WMTV
  • On Friday afternoon, a Black Earth man died in a crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 18/151 and County Trunk Highway K when a pickup truck failed to stop against a semi-truck traveling westbound, and a joint public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Barneveld Brigham Municipal Building to address intersection concerns as the investigation continues.  WISC-TV
  • Madison Fire Department responded to a water main break Saturday at a commercial facility on the 4200 block of Sycamore Ave — a Haz Mat team evaluated potential risks as crews asked drivers to avoid the area.  WMTV
  • Emily Weber, an expecting cycle instructor at Joy Ride Fitness, returned on Saturday to teach her company’s one-year anniversary class after a home fire in Fitchburg on Thursday destroyed her belongings — she said community support kept her going.  WMTV

  • The Mental Health Warrior film festival took over Flix Brewhouse yesterday, showing documentaries, comedies, dramas and a musical that celebrated mental health and provided resource flyers from NAMI. Organizers said the films—ranging from different styles—aimed to break stigma and open conversation about mental health.  WMTV
