- ➤ More than 400 people joined Saturday at Winnequah Park for the fourth annual Dash for Down Syndrome, which featured a 5K fun run & one mile walk to support people with Down Syndrome. GiGi's Playhouse surpassed its $60,000 goal & will use the funds to provide free programs for the community. WMTV
- ➤ On Saturday, a memorial mass was held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish to honor Pope Francis — drawing over 300 parishioners who reflected on his care for the poor and marginalized. Pastor Brian Wilk said the service was scheduled on short notice — showing the community's strong support for his legacy. WMTV

- ➤ Madison police arrested a driver for intoxicated driving after a white Jeep struck a parked car, a tree — and crashed into a house on Buckeye Road around 2:13 a.m. Saturday, causing damage to both the vehicle and the building as Madison Gas and Electric responded to fix downed power lines. WKOW
- ➤ Madison Police said 36 people were cited at the Mifflin Block Party as of 5 p.m. Saturday for carrying open alcoholic drinks, having glass in a glass free zone, and depositing human waste; property damage remained minimal while traffic delays and pedestrian congestion continued downtown. WMTV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ At the annual Madison College Spring Powwow on Saturday, people celebrated Native American heritage and culture as they browsed vendor booths (with traditional artwork, clothing, jewelry, and other handmade goods) and enjoyed performances by drummers, dancers, and a color guard. Organizers said the free event supported local Native American businesses and deepened community understanding of their cultural traditions. WMTV
- ➤ The first Mifflin Street Block Party in May 1969 started as a UW-Madison student protest that turned violent, leading to riots, injuries, and over 100 arrests + including then-Ald. Paul Soglin. - ➤ Former Wisconsin safety and Muskego native 22-year-old Hunter Wohler was drafted at No. 232 overall in the seventh round by the Indianapolis Colts. He played his entire college career with the Badgers — recording 120 tackles in his best season in 2023 and earning AP All Big Ten First Team honors. WKOW
- ➤ Former Wisconsin offensive lineman Joe Huber signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent after the NFL Draft; he played left and right guard for the Badgers under coach Luke Fickell since 2023 (he transferred from Cincinnati and is originally from Dublin, Ohio). WKOW
- ➤ Former Wisconsin offensive tackle and Stoughton native Jack Nelson was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the seventh round—pick 218 of the NFL Draft; he was a full-time starter for the Badgers and is the first Badger drafted in 2025. WKOW
