- ➤ The Zeteo Community is hosting a benefit on May 1 at Monona Terrace to raise funds for the construction of safe housing for women who survived sexual exploitation and their children. Ticket sales end on April 21—organizers said additional donations are needed to complete the project. WISC-TV

- ➤ Madison police charged Erick Thompson-Feirn with breaking into a Vicar Lane home in March while the occupants were on vacation and he also faces charges for multiple burglaries in Monona—items stolen in the break-in were recovered during police searches. WKOW

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Campus leaders and Gov. Tony Evers broke ground on UW-Madison’s new engineering building on Thursday after years of political funding conflict — a $419 million project that will add 395,000 square feet of space. The facility is planned to enroll an extra 1,000 engineering students each year and is set to open by 2028. Wisconsin Public Radio
