  • At Dane County Farmers’ Market on Saturday, Mennonite Action Madison and local faith communities held a vigil with song and prayer for Gaza and collected more than 200 pairs of shoes as a symbol of the victims killed since October 7. J. Denny Weaver from Madison Mennonite Church said the event underscored the call for Christians to help stop the violence.  WKOW

  • Teen entrepreneurs in Dane County showcased their inventions and business ideas at the 14th annual Pitch & Launch event hosted by CEO’s of Tomorrow today. Executive Director DeAndre Martin said the event trains the young participants to tackle challenges—some even received cash awards including a $1,000 prize to support their ventures.  WKOW

  • The Madison Police Department is looking for 68-year-old Jim Hansen, who went missing from Bahr Circle on the west side Saturday around noon possibly after boarding a Metro bus—he is 5'6, has brown hair and eyes, wore a gray jacket, is American Indian/Alaskan Native, and has a right eye injury.  WKOW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Citizens gathered outside the Capitol on Sunday to protest proposed cuts to the Department of Veterans Affairs, and retired physician Michael Siebers—who worked over 20 years at the Middleton VA Hospital—warned that layoffs of 2,400 staff with potential further cuts affecting about 83,000 workers could worsen veteran care.  WKOW

  • Madison residents should know that occasional heartburn is normal but chest burning more than twice a week could be a sign of GERD.
