  • Primrose Lutheran Church in Belleville kicked off its 175-year celebration on Sunday as members honored the church's Norwegian roots and growing diversity. Church leaders said the festivities include a display of flags representing past and current nationalities and will continue until September 21.  WKOW
  • The Wisconsin Film Festival held a Sunday brunch at Park Hotel along Capitol Square that brought together filmmakers including producers, screenwriters, and directors — organizers reported record audience engagement and the festival will continue with more films at Flix Brewhouse at East Towne Mall until April 10.  WMTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students, researchers-to-be and families toured UW-Madison labs plus the UW Health Carbone Cancer Center over the weekend during a campus science open house; Dr. Mahua Dey said she hopes the event will spark public interest in research and new cures.  WMTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Senator Dianne Hesselbein and State Representative Mike Bare hosted three budget listening sessions on Saturday in Madison, Cross Plains, and Verona so community members could share views on Governor Tony Evers' proposed state budget for 2025-2027. Attendees raised concerns about school funding, tax burdens, and misinformation while urging lawmakers to invest more in roads, libraries, and classrooms.  WKOW

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today in Middleton, Gilda’s Club launched a free 10-week program that uses play-based activities to help kids understand cancer and manage their feelings—licensed mental health professionals and child life specialists lead sessions with activities like doll treatments, organ bingo, and syringe painting. The program welcomes children ages 5 to 11 while caregivers attend support groups and volunteers serve a healthy dinner.  WMTV
