- ➤ A Madison man identified as Anthony Harper was arrested on March 15 on State Street after video evidence and witness accounts linked him to a stabbing where a box cutter was used—prosecutors charged him with first-degree endangering safety and plan to refile a dismissed charge while his defense requested a competency evaluation. - ➤ A woman allegedly broke into a home on Madison’s south side Tuesday afternoon when officers responded to a call at the 300 block of Phlox Dr. at 1:16 p.m.—she climbed onto a trailer roof armed with a hammer, fell while trying to cross a cable line, was taken to a local hospital, and police later issued felony orders for burglary, criminal damage to property, resisting and disorderly conduct. - ➤ A Mazomanie man was arrested Wednesday morning in Middleton for his 11th alleged OWI offense when an officer noted his high beam did not dim and his eyes looked glossy from alcohol, and he admitted drinking with a blood alcohol level of 0.11—he was booked into Dane County Jail. WMTV
- ➤ Madison police arrested a woman on Tuesday after she tried to burglarize a south side home; she grabbed a hammer and climbed onto a trailer home's roof on Phlox Drive before falling from a cable line during her escape attempt (she now faces felony charges for burglary, criminal damage to property, resisting by refusing to comply and disorderly conduct). - ➤ Dane County Circuit Court Judge Susan Crawford defeated Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Brad Schimel in the April 1 Wisconsin Supreme Court election by earning 55% of the vote with a margin of about 236,000 votes. The record-setting contest saw more than $105 million spent and secures liberal control of the court at least until 2028 — a result that many voters welcomed. Isthmus
- ➤ Madison city council races Tuesday saw most incumbents win at a 68% turnout — 5% higher than the previous election with a state Supreme Court justice on the ballot. Close contests in District 19 led to a possible recount while in District 15 the winner may decline the seat — and Dane County Executive Melissa Agard won re-election with a wide margin. Isthmus
- ➤ The City of Madison updated its housing tracker for March as part of Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway's Housing Forward initiative which aims to build 15,000 new homes by 2030. In March, 118 new homes were built—raising the 2025 total to 468—and officials said improved weather will help speed further construction. WISC-TV
- ➤ Wisconsin voters approved a constitutional amendment that adds a voter ID requirement after a ballot measure passed Tuesday at 8:37 p.m.—the amendment cements rules already in state law and leaves lawmakers to decide which forms of valid photographic identification are accepted.
