COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Officials announced that the Madison Public Market, originally planned for July, will open in late fall as construction delays postponed the certificate of occupancy now expected by May 2 (and delayed necessary electrical hookups) at 202 N. First St. The nearly $24 million project will offer 30 vendor booths, food carts and event space while the foundation continues reviewing merchant applications.  The Capital Times

CRIME NEWS

  • Today the Merrimac Ferry is open for the 2025 season and carries WIS 113 traffic across the Wisconsin River between Okee and Merrimac—running 24 hours a day with each crossing taking about seven minutes.  WISC-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Big money from out-of-state billionaires is backing Dane County Judge Susan Crawford and Waukesha County Judge Brad Schimel in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race—money that could sway important cases. • In Wisconsin, college students can vote using a student ID that meets strict requirements—such as including a signature and valid dates—which means schools like UW–Madison provide a special voter-compliant card since their regular cards like the Wiscard are not accepted.
