Good morning, Madison. Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 23rd of March.

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Madison’s Los Gemelos Mexican Restaurant near the Kohl Center has seen a busy spell as events like the WIAA Boys Basketball State Tournament and March Madness draw visitors from across the state — manager Omar Cortéz said extra college students on spring break have added to the usual crowd.  WKOW
  • Lola’s Hi-Lo Lounge (a '60s themed restaurant serving global tavern food) in Madison was recognized by Food & Wine magazine for attracting statewide travelers, and co-owner Matt Gerding said the honor reinforces confidence in the local dining scene.  WMTV
  • Shoppers turned to Dane County Farmers Market as egg prices were competitive with those at big grocery stores — at Ducks in a Row Family Farm, owner Charles Backes sold 22 dozen eggs by Saturday afternoon and aimed to sell out his 30 dozen supply, while Ron Kean from UW-Extension noted that high national prices shifted demand. This trend shows local markets offering a cost-effective alternative amid rising national prices.  WMTV

  • The Wisconsin DMV now allows teens aged 15-17 to take the driver license knowledge test from home under parental supervision after finishing classroom training. Students who pass the two-part exam must later visit a DMV to receive an instruction permit (the online test costs $10, while in-person testing is free).  WISC-TV
