ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A structural fire damaged an 8-unit apartment building in Middleton on Saturday afternoon and displaced several tenants as fire crews rescued all occupants on the 3400 block of Webber Rd—discarded smoking materials and strong winds caused the rapid spread—and one animal died from smoke inhalation.  WKOW
  • A fatal crash closed I-94 Eastbound near mile marker 275 in Johnson Creek at 2 A.M. Monday—state patrol said lanes will remain closed for a few hours—to force drivers to use an alternate route.  WISC-TV

  • Madison Police are investigating reports of shots fired on the near east side after officers responded to the 100 block of Milky Way early Sunday morning — the scene remains active and no injuries have been confirmed.  WMTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Dane County law enforcement agencies have started a ten-day campaign to show drivers the dangers of running red lights and stop signs—using data from 21 agencies including those in Madison to highlight risks. Lt. Matt Plendl said the effort uses social media and outreach to remind everyone that one mistake on the road can lead to costly fines, crashes, or serious injuries.  WMTV

  • The UW-Madison Track and Field team now practices at an indoor facility in Lodi—about a 40 minute drive from campus—because their usual on-campus track is not available in the winter.
