ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • High winds from a severe storm damaged homes and farm structures in southern Wisconsin from Friday night into Saturday morning. In Albion, one family reported fallen trees and damage to their farm with wind gusts reaching between 60 and 70 mph.  WKOW
  • A strong wind on Friday night in Jefferson County tore the roof off a building and it crashed into mobile homes where firefighters rescued an older woman and her cat — the woman was not hurt but is displaced as crews begin checking the damage.  WMTV

CRIME NEWS

  • Madison police responded to a report of a stabbing on State Street Saturday afternoon (at the 500-block) and are investigating a weapons violation involving a knife while searching for a male suspect in a white puff coat and black pants running east.  WKOW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Madison has opened secure ballot drop boxes for the April 1 Spring Election to help absentee voters return their ballots safely. Voters who requested an absentee ballot (due in the next few days) should follow the signed and sealed instructions to have their vote counted.  City of Madison
  • The Pentagon said the state’s request for over $18 million to soundproof 162 east Madison homes was denied but left the option to reapply later this year—officials noted that testing on noise insulation had already begun near Dane County Regional Airport. State leaders may seek alternative funding later in 2025—residents remain concerned about the rising jet noise.  The Capital Times
  • The Madison City Clerk’s Office admitted it misread state law on residency rules for a City Council candidate—leaving the candidate responsible for meeting legal requirements.  Wisconsin State Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • UW Health and Anthem have extended their contract through (July 1) so that patients with Anthem insurance can receive care at UW Health without higher bills. The deal stops a policy change set to take effect after the previous deadline (April 15).  Wisconsin State Journal
