The John Nolen Drive causeway in Madison will begin reconstruction on Oct. 13 to replace bridges and repave lanes while keeping one lane open in each direction and the bike lane available until the southbound bridges are replaced by late spring/early summer — the $42 million Phase 1 project covers Lakeside to Broom streets and adds a new pedestrian/bike path. Traffic detours may occur as construction shifts flows from one lane to the other.

Gov. Tony Evers said on Thursday that his team and the Department of Corrections met all court mandates at Lincoln Hills and Copper Lake — letting the state move youth to facilities closer to their homes. He said the state will keep checking the reforms this fall and open a new youth facility in Milwaukee next year.

Nearly a year ago, Samuel Hoffland suffered severe injuries after consuming THC-contaminated pizza from Famous Yeti’s, which left over 80 people—27 of whom sought hospital care—with harmful symptoms. State regulators have not yet set rules on THC in food, and lawmakers are still debating new measures as Hoffland’s lawsuit against the restaurant continues.
